Don’t talk to me like I’m a computer scientist.
People don’t want to be treated like robots. They don’t submit queries, don’t know or care what a 404 Error is, and never want to be told something they have done is invalid. Would you tell your dear mother to authenticate her credentials? I certainly hope not.
But our sites, apps, and software use bizarre technical jargon constantly. We don’t think twice about it. For us, it is normal. For mere mortals, it is not.
It’s time we STOP speaking to others the way WE want to be spoken to. Join me on a cringe-worthy tour of the horrible, demeaning, ridiculous language we throw at users… I mean, people.
The best digital products speak with respect and simple clarity. Let’s laugh at ourselves then commit to fixing the problem. In this session, I’ll show you how.
